Over the past 25 years the biggest change in my practice is the ethnic mix of the patients that I see. Once, mostly Anglo-Saxon patients with convergent squints, have changed to a wide mix of ethnic backgrounds and a change in the disease mix along with that. Exotropia surgery has become more common than esotropia surgery. More genetic eye diseases are apparent. Myopia is rife. I will also discuss parental attitudes to surgery in different cultural backgrounds.
Rosemary will share about the work of Glenys Chapman, OAM with ADRA and specifically her involvement with Open Heart International. For more information and to watch a brief video on ADRA/OHI please click the links below:

The price of admission to having a job these days is the ability to embrace the constantly accelerating pace of change. With technological innovations, disruptive business models and connected clients getting access to information from so many sources, it's no wonder so many of us feel exhausted by it all.
The great thing about Marty Wilson’s approach to change management is he starts with the fact that all these new systems and processes have to be implemented by human beings with hearts and minds, doubts and fears. Importantly, Marty uses well-researched case studies and scientific data, but he also illustrates all his content with deeply personal stories and hilarious anecdotes – as only a former Australian Comic of the Year could – to make sure even the most ardent cynic gets on board.
Stay back after the Conference and join us for drinks to celebrate and continue networking with your Day Surgery colleagues!

Statina Healthcare Australia was established in 1998 to provide Fire Evacuation products to the Australian hospital and nursing home markets.
It quickly became obvious that there was also a growing need for better Manual Handling products in this same market area. Around this time, some facilities were starting to use Slide Sheets, rather than Draw Sheets, to reduce the friction between the patient and the bed and therefore make it easier for the carers to transfer and reposition patients in bed. Also at this time, the number of larger Bariatric patients presenting at hospitals was also increasing. This presented yet another Manual Handling problem for staff as the traditional Draw Sheet and new Slide Sheet were not able to cope well with the larger patients. In 2000, Statina Healthcare Australia introduced the HoverMatt to the Australian Market. The HoverMatt is able to transfer and reposition patients up to 544kg with minimal risk to carers.
Since 2000, Statina has introduced numerous products to assist in the care and management of larger patients including the HoverJack, the Shuttle Transit Chair, Bariatric Wheelchairs, Commodes, Walkers and more. Most recently, we have introduced several ranges of Post Surgical garments for the cosmetic surgery industry.
All of these products can be found detailed on this web site and more information is available by contacting our office on 1300 365 404.
